1001 Albums #13

OMG!! How long must I suffer? It is bad enough being ill by itself, but listening to this music does not make it any better. It really does sound like the inside of my mind when I go to another world.

The thirteen album Kenya is a blend of Afro-Cuban beats and jazz from Machito who was born Francisco Raúl Gutiérrez Grillo. I am not sure how this album made it to the list of 1001 Albums because it is my new least favourite. This album may have caused the United States embargo against Cuba. Think about! The album came out in 1957 and the embargo happened in 1958.

It was hard for me to get through the whole 37:56 minutes. I did it, but I think I deserve a gold medal. Kids today get participation awards. I want mine. I once got an honorable mention award for poetry. It was the first ever poem I had ever written. The teacher entered it in the literary fare. I had no knowledge of it. Imagine my surprise when I received a certificate. If only I had coloured mine as the other students. Who knows where I would be today?

Back to Kenya. It is not high on my places to visit and the album is even lower on my list of least favourites. I would never purposely listen to this noise again. It would not be so bad if they got rid of all the drums and horns.
