#158 MC5 – Kick Out the Jams

Kick Out the Jams was the live debut album from proto-punk band MC5. I will not waste your time on this one. If you want to listen to an early punk-type band, then check it out. I did not like it because it was too raw for me. I like my punk a bit more refined sort of like the Sex Pistols  or the Clash. The other thing which I hate about his album is it is live. I still hate live albums. I listened to it, but it was too loud with all the screaming and the applause from the audience. I might have enjoyed it better if there was a recorded version first, then heard it live. This band did not become too commercial because I have never heard any of their songs

Oddly, I do not know of any punk rockers in my life when I was growing up. Of course, we had the fake ones in the 80s. Some of my friends and even I did in one of my many incarnations dressed in all back and wore black eyeliner. Fortunately, I never allowed many photos of myself. The few I have seen because of family makes me angry. Some family members think it is funny to post photos against my wishes. I have blocked them out of my life and banned them from seeing anything I post on Facebook. It might have been better to remove them. I do not have that thing in me that needs my birth family. I left them behind for many years and I was fine. Somehow that all changed in the recent years. I have one family member that I actually like and we did not grow together. I am not sure when I stopped wearing all black and eyeliner. At one point in my life before anyone else did it I used to wear colourful boxers, a t-shirt, a huge cross or something around my neck and Doc Martins. People always looked at my because they were not sure if I was wearing shorts or boxers. Once in a while somebody would ask me. They were always shocked to find out the truth. My fashion has changed a lot through the years. Now, I am back to dark colours and jeans only.

I think I do not like that I do not know what the singer is screaming in these songs. The music is probably loading than his singing. It is not horrible, but I cannot grasp onto any of it. There is a minute in one song “I Want You Right Now” where it gets quieter and I like that moment. 5/10.
