Jethro Tull is a name I have heard before, but I do not know his their music. I thought Jethro Tull was a person. Aqualung is their fourth album. Although the band disagrees, it is considered a concept album by many. The theme is “the distinction between religion and God”. Discuss. Lead singer and songwriter Ian Anderson vehemently disagrees with the concept idea and made the concept album Thick as a Brick in protest.
This is not my type of music in general because of the progressive rock sound mixed with folk music. I realised that I have heard the song “Aqualung” before today. I had not listened to the complete song before. It was okay, I guess. I prefer the parts without the obnoxious guitar licks.
This is not an album I would listen to again, but I can appreciate it for its part in musical history. They are talented musician. I think the singer’s voice is not horrible, but not great either. 5/10.
It’s a significant album musically. They were experimental and unique. My dad was/is a big Jethro Tull fan. Maybe ask him why he likes them.
