If I Could Only Remember My Name is the fist solo album from David Crosby of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and of The Byrds. Hopefully, it will be the only album of his I will have to suffer through. It is quite hilarious that his album is today. Two days ago a friend tried to get me to listen to his music, but I told him I hated him. I think we agreed that Crosby is a pig of a human.
The first song did not build any confidence in this album. “Music Is Love” was the most repetitive crap I have ever heard in my life. Possibly more repetitive than “Birthday Cake” from Rihanna.
“Cowboy Movie” sounds like a song to a war film. In fact, a few of these songs sound like they could be in films about war during the late 60s or 70s.
I really hate is when he tries to sound intimate. A great example is “Traction in the Rain“, which comes off silly. He does not sound true to his character in this type of song. The whole second side sounds terrible.
As I stated, I am not a fan of Crosby’s music, but this is not as bad as the two bands he is part of before doing a solo album. The album cover is horrific. It is in the top ten worst covers ever. 5/10.
