#290 Steely Dan – Countdown to Ecstasy

Steely Dan‘s Countdown to Ecstasy is their second album and their second album on the list of 1001 albums. This album is new for me. It was recorded at Caribou Ranch in Nederland, Colorado, which is not far from where I live. This album has Donald Fagan singing all the songs, since leader singer David Palmer left the band.

I could not find one song that stood out over the rest. I prefer the vocals of the former lead singer Palmer. Fagan’s voice is not as pleasant for me. None of the songs had the potential to be a hit. The closest the came was in the song “Show Biz Kids“. The music is really good and jazzy, but I felt detached from the experience. 6/10.
