Raw Power is the third entry from Iggy and the Stooges. This album was a reunion of sorts with The Stooges. David Bowie did the final mix on the album, but many years later Iggy Pop did another mix of it. There has been a consensus that Bowie’s version was terrible until Pop remixed it. Bowie’s is great. I personally like both versions. Bowie’s is a bit better and a bit softer.
As with my last post on Alice Cooper’s last album, this album is devoid of that one song that can be a hit money maker. Some people will say that they hate when artists make songs for the radio. Artists need to feed their family too. Hit songs bring fans and fans buy music and go to concerts.
What the album does have is songs that helped spur others to create music which gave us punk music. Songs that are worth checking out are: “Search and Destroy“, “Gimme Danger“, and “I Need Somebody“. It is better to listen to the whole album to get it all in context. 7/10.
