Frampton Comes Alive is one of those iconic albums that I have heard about, but I am not sure I have ever heard the whole album. It seems as though Peter Frampton was not able to replicate it and he kind of disappeared. He has played on other artist’s work, such as David Bowie, but his music was not as popular. If you have been reading this blog, then you know I hate live albums, but I will be open-minded. It must be hard to go to the top so quickly, then fall to the bottom just as quickly.
The first two songs “Introduction/Something’s Happening” and “Doobie Wah” did not build my confidence in finding anything good about this album.
Frampton really comes alive on “Show Me the Way“. This is the song I heard as a young kid that was popular from him, but I guess I never realised it was live.
The best song is definitely “Baby, I Love Your Way“. I really like this song a lot. It is so sweet and romantic.
“Do You Feel Like We Do” was one of the three hits from this album. It was another favourite song of mine as a child. I have not heard it in years.
“Lines on My Face” displays his talent as a guitarist.
It was great hearing the songs I knew from the radio as a child. Sometimes, music from my childhood makes me sad and happy at the same time. My life sucked back then, but the music was my savior of sorts. It got me through the difficult times. This is the best live album I have heard so far in the list. I wish the clapping was less, but the songs are really good. 9/10.
I heard this was one of the highest selling albums of the 70’s. Everybody had a copy. My dad has a copy in his vinyl collection. A few good songs, and his use of the talk-box effect was legendary (can be heard in “Do you feel like we do”)
