Before And After Science is the fifth studio album of Brian Eno and the third album of five on 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. I loved the first album, but the last went down a bit for me. I wonder if this can compete with his previous works. Some critics think this is his best album. Phil Collins plays the drums on this album. Yes, that Phil Collins.
I listened to this album twice and I could not come to any conclusions about it. I think I liked it, but it is so weird. I definitely liked “By This River” because it sounded like a lullaby, a sweet romantic lullaby. It is a sad song. Eno is not a vocalist and that is what is throwing me off. Ironically, his voice fits the music, but the music is much better than the vocals, yet it all fits together. I always reserve the right to change a score in the future. 9/10.
