#391 Elvis Costello – My Aim Is True

Elvis Costello is one of those artists that I have heard of, but I heard one song and I was not interested in hearing more. I have never heard his debut album My Aim Is True. I think I heard of him on MTV, but I do not know which song. He looks like a 70s version of Buddy Holly, but has a cool name like Elvis. Costello’s debut came a month before the real King of Rock and Roll died.

The songs to listen to are “Miracle Man“, “Alison“, “(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes” “Less Than Zero“, and “Waiting for the End of the World“.

This is one of those albums that is hard for me to decide if I like it or hate it. He has unique vocals, a bit whiny at times. The music is good, especially for 1977. Most of the songs are under 3 minutes. It is an uneven album for me, but it is a good throw back to the earlier days of rock and roll, while looking ahead to a new wave. 7/10.
