#409 Bruce Springsteen – Darkness on the Edge of Town

Darkness on the Edge of Town is the fourth album from Bruce “The Boss” Springsteen. Although one of his most critically acclaimed it failed to produce any hits songs. There were some unused songs that became hits for other artist such as The Pointer Sisters’ “Fire” and Patti Smith’s “Because the Night“. My favourite version of the latter song was from 10,000 Maniacs.

This is a great album. I like all the songs, except for “Candy’s Room”. My favourite songs are “Something in the Night” and “Racing in the Street”. Springsteen puts all his passion in his vocals on these songs. These are the ones which are darts to the heart.

I recommend the whole album, except for the one song mentioned above. I think this is better as a whole body of art. It does not have that song that can be called a radio hit, but it has the heart of a working man. 9/10.
