#410 Funkadelic – One Nation Under A Groove

Funkadelic‘s One Nation Under A Groove was a hard album to review because I could not decide if I liked it or not. Some people claim this is where Prince learned to funk, but Prince’s debut album For You came out first in 1978. Granted his album is not as funky as this one, but for new artist who at nineteen years old in 1978 produced and played all the instruments it was an accomplishment. Warning: This album is not on Spotify. I had to listen to it on YouTube.

I think this album is a great funk album, but it can be a bit repetitive, especially the first song “One Nation Under A Groove” clocking over seven minutes of repetition.

The only song that really sucks is “Who Says a Funk Band Can’t Play Rock?!

I think this is a great album, especially if you do not mind long repetitive songs. The musicians are extremely talented and the vocals are easy on the ears. 8/10.
