If there was an album I could not wait to listen to again it would be The Cars‘ self-titled debut album. I was a huge fan of their music. I actually met them once. I did not even ask for their autograph since I am not into that sort of thing. They are pure magic. The Cars are in my top 10 bands of all-time. It is one of those bands that I discovered on my own. I did have a friend that liked them too and we used to play them while we would drive around the city looking for something to do. I think we played Candy-O more.
Songs you must hear: “Good Times Roll“, “My Best Friend’s Girl“, “Just What I Needed“, “You’re All I’ve Got Tonight“, “Bye Bye Love“, and “Moving in Stereo“. Actually, the whole album is great, but I think Candy-O and Heartbeat City are my favourite albums.
This is a live video from 1978. Proof that artist used to sing live and sounded great.
This is a classic new wave album with sprinkles of other genres like rockabilly. It should be enjoyed in its entirety, but it does not depend on it. Everyone in the band is incredible. I love Ric Ocasek’s vocals because they are more unique than Benjamin Orr’s vocals, but both are great. 10/10.
