#438 The Undertones – The Undertones

The Undertones has a familiar name, but I doubt I have heard their music. They formed in 1974 in Northern Ireland. Their sound is punk and pop punk. This was their debut album and they recorded four albums before disbanding.

The songs that stood out the most are “Family Entertainment“, “I Gotta Getta“, “Wrong Way“, “True Confessions” and “I Know a Girl”.

The reissues contain their hit “Teenage Kicks“, which helps make the album even better. The vocals sound more desperate than the rest of the songs on the album.

The album is really poppy, upbeat and short. It is a little less than thirty minutes. It can sound a bit one note after awhile. Overall, I like the vocals and the music. The lyrics are a bit harder to understand on one or two listens. I think I would have to Google them. Although I like a few of the songs, I found the album to be good, but not great. 7/10.
