Marianne Faithfull had disappeared from the world of music during the 70s. She had become homeless, suffered from anorexia and addicted to heroin. Producer Mark Miller Mundy brought her music out of the past into the future of new wave. Many critics, even Faithfull herself, consider her seventh album Broken English a masterpiece.
I listened to some of her songs before she ruined her voice and I think her broken voice sounds a lot better, especially with the new wave music. Unfortunately, I would never listen to her again. It sounds dated, especially the first song sounds like it was taken from the asteroids game. I listened to it a couple of times and it kind of grew on me, but not enough. 6/10.
