#455 Dexys Midnight Runners – Searching for the Young Soul Rebels

Dexys Midnight Runners‘ Searching for the Young Soul Rebels is another album I have not heard of. I thought of them as a one hit wonder, but that is not exactly true in England. Each decade has its artists and bands that are tried to that time and Dexys is one of those bands. Their music was influenced by Northern Soul and their clothing was street urchin apparel.

The best song, in my opinion, is “Tell Me When My Light Turns Green“. The music sounds all over the place and out of tune at times.

I am not really a fan of Kevin Rowland vocals. He sounds whiny. I think they did not last long because his vocals are hard to take for an hour. I also did not like all the horns which were often too loud to hear the lyrics. 5/10.
