The Soft Boys was a short-lived band, but their neo-psychedelia sound on their second album Underwater Moonlight inspired, such artists as R.E.M. and and the Pixies. They were ahead of their time. Songwriter and vocalist Kimberley Rew formed Katrina and the Waves.
Overall, the album was okay, but it never really got under my skin. I prefer the bands they inspired to make greater music. I think the vocals and the lyrics were the problem for me; neither of them moved me. 6/10.
