#471 The Jam – Sound Affects

The Jam are back with another album Sound Affects. It was influenced by Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall and the Beatles’ Revolver album.

My favourite songs are “That’s Entertainment“, “Man in the Corner Shop“, and “Scrape Away”.

I listened to their final album The Gift because it has the hit song “A Town Called Malice”. I think it is the best of their albums. I like the shift to more Northern Soul and the added elements of jazz. It is more complex musically. As for Sound Affects, it is good, but it has more of the mod revival sound that does not move me as much. If it was a revival of the 80s, then I might appreciate it more. This album is a grower. 8/10.
