#483 Soft Cell – Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret

Soft Cell‘s debut Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret is the only album I know from the early 80s duo, but I have never heard it. In the USA they are considered a one-hit wonder, but in the UK they had many hits.

The remake of “Tainted Love” was extremely successful for Soft Cell.

According to Wikipedia, this album was number 66 on The 100 Greatest, Gayest Albums (of All Time). I cannot think of anything gayer, even Erasure and Pet Shop Boys are not this gay.

Overall, this album is a huge disappointment. The hit single gives one so much promise, but it is “plain as the Ann on Egg’s face”. This album is rather boring for the 80s. 4/10.
