X started as a punk band in 1977. They had a couple of minor hits in the 80s, but they did not hit it big. Wild Gift is their second album.
My only thought throughout the album was “is this punk?”. It does not sound like punk to me, at least not enjoyable punk. I found the music to be a bit generic and every song sounded similar to each other. I am surprised it is on the list. Maybe I am missing something. It is even on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. I don’t get it. I did not enjoy the singing either. Maybe they should try just straight rock music. At least the songs are not long. 5/10.
