Elvis Costello and the Attractions‘ Imperial Bedroom is Costello’s seventh album. I definitely have not heard this album. I have heard Costello a little when I was young, but I was never a fan. This is his fourth album on the list of 1001 Albums You Must Hear… This book is a bit of a joke. I wish I had found something more reliable.
Honestly I think three albums from Costello is enough, more than enough. The difference from his previous albums is that this one is so slow that I almost fell asleep. I did not feel a connection to any of the songs. Costello is not a good enough singer to sing torch songs. He needs to stick to faster songs which cover up his vocals. This album was a snooze-fest. Costello voice can drive anyone mad, especially on a fifteen song album. 5/10.
