Bruce Springsteen‘s Nebraska is his sixth studio album and it was originally a set of demos. It is considered a somber album and Springsteen did not tour for this reason.
The first song “Nebraska” is really naked. It tells the tale of Charles Starkweather, who along with his teenage girlfriend Caril Ann Fugate murdered 11 people in 1958. It is a haunting tune.
“Atlantic City” is another depressing song. “Everything dies, baby, that’s a fact, but maybe everything that dies someday comes back.” I wonder if love dies will it or can it come back.
My other suggestions to listen to on this album are “Mansion on the Hill“, the bleakest song “Highway Patrolman“, “State Trooper” and “Used Cars”.
This album was so depressing that it took me almost a week to listen to it and complete this entry. I would start it, but it sounded so sad and I was so depressed that the two did not work together. I had a bicycle accident and it depressed me, plus it is August and I hate August.
Overall, it is a great album, even though it might induce suicidal thoughts into the listeners head. 9.5/10.
