I have never heard of Senegalese singer Youssou N’Dour before today. I have admitted before that I do not like Afrikan music before. Something about it sounds so primitive when they clap and ply the drums. Okay, that is my imagination of what it sounds like. Immigrés is his debut album, which he recorded in France.
I was not incorrect in my thoughts of Afrikan music. Fortunately, not all the songs sounded exactly the same. I hated the vocals. When I listen to music in a foreign language I have to feel something to enjoy it. I did not feel anything while listening to this album. Well, maybe irritated is what I felt. It was hurting my brain. I was happy when it was over, but maybe not Joan Baez happy. 1/10.
