#560 The Jesus and Mary Chain – Psychocandy

The Jesus and Mary Chain debut album Psychocandy is the front-runner in proto-shoegazing music of the 80s. Brothers Jim and William Reid hail from Scotland and started forming the band in 1983. I had not heard of them until the song “Reverence” came out in 1992.

My favourite songs are “Just Like Honey“, “The Hardest Walk“, “Cut Dead“, “Never Understand“, “Sowing Seeds“, and “Something’s Wrong”.

I think the guitar distortion or feedback gets a little over used. It starts to make my head hurt. Otherwise, I like their vocals and feeling. I am looking forward to their next album on the list. 7.5/10.
