Dexys Midnight Runners has a third album in the list. This is so laughable. I wonder if the editor of the book is related to a band member or being paid by them. Don’t Stand Me Down was their third album and it was a huge disappointment critically and commercially. They disbanded after it. If you look at the album cover, then you might see that this band looks so different. The band is down to four members and they are all dressed up for business.
I like what I am hearing musically. What I hate is the banter. In the song “This Is What She’s Like” there is a dialogue between two of the guys. The song is over 12 minutes so I do to want to listen to them talking during the song.
“The Occasional Flicker“, “Knowledge of Beauty“, “One of Those Things”, “Reminisce Part Two”, and “The Waltz” are really good songs.
Kevin Rowland vocals are great. The band is tighter in my opinion. The downfall is the overly long songs. I would rather have a version without the talking. I wish they were edited down a bit. But, the album is actually really good. 8.5/10.
