#584 The Smiths – The Queen Is Dead

The Smiths return with their third studio album The Queen Is Dead. I had this album on CD when I first started buying them. I know I will love it.

I had trouble getting through this album because I was already dealing with a deep depression. It is one of those where I am not sure if I will make it through it. I cannot breathe. I am trapped. I am alone. I have nobody. Morrissey knows how I feel, especially with songs like “I Know It’s Over“. His lyrics are so real and raw.

I know it’s over
And it never really began
But in my heart it was so real
And you even spoke to me, and said :
“If you’re so funny
Then why are you on your own tonight ?
And if you’re so clever
Then why are you on your own tonight ?
If you’re so very entertaining
Then why are you on your own tonight ?
If you’re so very good-looking
Why do you sleep alone tonight ?
I know…

Morrissey is the king of sadness when it comes to music. I am the king of sadness when it comes to living life. I do not know how I will survive this challenge. I am living in a time period that was extremely sad for me. I know that the decisions I make now will leave me alone for the rest of my life. I think I had an opportunity for love, but I moved away from it. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe it was the best decision and I am fooling myself.

I think I should cut this review short. I know this album is amazing. I made it through it later in the night, but I could not go through it again to pick out my favourite songs. Actually, all the songs are great, except maybe “Vicar in a Tutu”. 10/10.
