#598 Astor Piazzolla and Gary Burton – The New Tango

Astor Piazzolla and Gary Burton released their jazzy tango album The New Tango in 1987. Burton is a jazz vibraphonist and composer. Piazzolla was a tango composer, bandoneon player, and arranger. This album was recorded at their concert for the Montreux Festival of 1986.

The music is very relaxing on the overly long first song “Milonga is Coming“. “Little Italy 1930” sounds nice too.

I hate almost all live albums, except for a few rare ones. I think these two artist are great together, but the clapping takes it all away. I hate the clapping. Why must people clap on a live album? Nobody wants to hear clapping. 5/10.
