#608 Pet Shop Boys – Actually

I remember the first time I heard Pet Shop Boys. It was probably in 1984 when they released the song “West End Girls“. I remember the DJ always playing it and I was thought this song is different. It had a great sound. Oddly, or maybe typical of this crappy book I am using their debut album Please is not on the list. I have a feeling it might be the better album. Actually their second album was released in 1987.

Without a doubt I have always liked “What Have I Done to Deserve This?” their single featuring Dusty Springfield. This song resurrected her career. I had not heard of her until this song came out. I wish every song on this album has this feeling to it.

I kind of liked “I Want to Wake Up“, “Heart”, “King’s Cross”, and of course “It’s a Sin“.

I would add the B-side single “A New Life” to this album. It is better than many of the songs on the album. It’s a sin that they left it off. Pun intended.

Overall, I was a bit disappointed in the album. I love dance music, but this did not move me as much as I had hoped it would. 7.7/10.
