#611 The Pogues – If I Should Fall from Grace with God

This is the first album in the list from 1988. It is a special year to me. I looked ahead in the book through 1988 and it looks mostly terrible. Hopefully, I will be surprised. The Pogues is not a name I wanted to see again on the list. If I Should Fall from Grace with God is their third studio album of Irish folk-punk music. Their previous album on the list had a score of 0.5 so I am not holding my breath out for this one.

After listening to the album, I must admit that this is better than their previous one, but it does not take much to beat that one. I think the song “Fairytale of New York” featuring singer-songwriter Kirsty MacColl on vocals stood out over the rest. It might have something to do with the fact that she sings better than Shane MacGowan.

I would never listen to this album again. I really hated the vocals and the irritating sound of the instruments. 2/10.
