John Lee Hooker‘s The Healer is an album I have never heard. I barely heard of Hooker. I know that he played the blues. I cannot see a reason for this album to be on the list, except that it is filled with many special guests.
The first song “The Healer” kind of sucks. Carlos Santana is the special guest musician and writer. I think all his songs sound the same. This one is as boring as all his other songs.
“I’m in the Mood” is a bit better because of Bonnie Raitt‘s vocals and the music is more bluesy.
Overall, I think the album is okay for a blues album. I like the blues, but I do not generally listen to it unless it is live. I live the blues everyday so I do not need to hear it often. 6/10.
