Barry Adamson‘s Moss Side Story is a concept album. It is the soundtrack to a fictional crime film. The title kind of sucks; it is not original at all. The mostly instrumental album incorporates electronica, jazz and lounge music. It seems like it is waiting for someone to write the actual film for it.
The first song “On The Wrong Side of Relaxation” sounds like the type of music you would hear in a computer game which has some seek and find elements. While the music is interesting all the sounds make it difficult to enjoy.
All the songs could easily be made into a soundtrack for a crime film or for a computer game with elements of mystery. I would not listen to this album every day. Maybe once more in the future because it is good, but not good enough for daily consumption. 8/10.
