#681 Sinead O’Connor – I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got

Sinead O’Connor is a weirdo. But she made at least two great albums The Lion and the Cobra and I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got before she destroyed her career. I think it was when she tore up the picture of a pope on Saturday Night Live that her career started to descend. I think people got upset over nothing. The latter is listed in the book of 1001 Albums, but I think the former should be in it too. I had her first four albums. This album reminds me of Kether Friedmann. We were once good friends, or at least I thought we were.

My favourite songs are “The Last Day of Our Acquaintance” and “Black Boys on Mopeds“.

It is really difficult to choose because I think the whole album is great. My other favourites are “Three Babies”, “The Emperor’s New Clothes“, “Nothing Compares 2 U“, and “You Cause as Much Sorrow“.

This is a great album. It was one of the best of 1990. If you have only heard the one hot song, then it is time to listen to the whole album. 10/10.
