Saint Etienne? How did I forget this band? I used to have their first two albums Foxbase Alpha and So Tough. This was the British band’s debut album, which infused house music with 60s pop. Originally it was a duo Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs who worked with different female singers, until they worked with Sarah Cracknell. She became a full-time singer and songwriter.
My favourite song was “Only Love Can Break Your Heart“, which was written by Neil Young. I also liked “Carnt Sleep” and I especially like “Spring“.
Overall, I think this was a perfect album. It is so pleasant to the ears. There is dancing and love in the air. I will be adding this to may driving and exercise list on Spotify. I am curious to hear their other albums. 10/10.
