#702 U2 – Achtung Baby

Achtung Baby is U2‘s seventh studio album. I believe this was their truly last spectacular album. The albums that followed it are not fully realised or totally gone astray as with Pop. I have not even listened to their last two albums, but I eventually will. I have become a bit disappointed in their lack of creativity to try new things. Their sound was always so fresh.

I like every song on this album. I never skip any of them. My favourite is probably “Ultraviolet (Light My Way)“. I really love the music and the lyrics describe how I have felt.

“I remember
When we could sleep on stones
Now we lie together
In whispers and moans
When I was all messed up
And I had opera in my head
Your love was a light bulb
Hanging over my bed
Baby, baby, baby, light my way”

My other favorites are “Tryin’ to Throw Your Arms Around the World“, One, “Until the End of the World“, “So Cruel” and all the other ones.

If you listen to it, then check out the Deluxe Edition on Spotify because I bought the singles when they were released so I could listen to the B-sides. The best ones are “Alex Descends into Hell for a Bottle of Milk/Korova 1” and “Lady with the Spinning Head (UV1)“.

U2 has maybe four or five albums that can be called a masterpiece and this is one of them. I wish they would do something incredible again. 10/10.
