#762 The Sabres of Paradise – Haunted Dancehall

The Sabres of Paradise is an electronic band from England and I have never heard of them. Bizarre! After some research, I figured out why I have not heard of them. They recorded three albums from 1992 to 1995, then they disbanded. Last month, key member Andrew Weatherall died so a reunion seems impossible. Haunted Dancehall is their second album.

Wow! I would have loved to have heard this album in 1994. All the songs are great, but I really liked “Duke of Earlsfield“, “Tow Truck”, “Ballad of Nicky McGuire“, “Chapel Street Market 9AM”, and “Planet D“, which is a Portishead Remix.

I love this album. I can put it on and drift away until it is over. I am happy that I discovered it now. It is like an old lost friend that you knew for an extremely short time, but he reappears and suddenly you know him a hundred times better because you are both in a different stage of life. 10/10.
