#789 Tricky – Maxinquaye

Trip-hop seems to be on the uprise in 1995. Collaborative member of Massive Attack, Tricky released his debut album Maxinquaye in 1995. He discovered vocalist Martina Topley-Bird and she was his main vocalist for his album. I have not heard this album, but I have heard some of Tricky’s music over the years.

My favourite song on the album is “Hell Is Round the Corner“. Oddly, I know this song well, but I am not sure how I know it. I also like “Aftermath”, “Pumpkin”, and “Ponderosa”.

Trust me and skip “Abbaon Fat Tracks”. It is disgusting.

Otherwise, I like the album. I think it was a great debut album, except it kind of stumbles toward the middle and end. 7/10.
