Death in Vegas released their second album, The Contino Sessions, of electronica music toward the end of 1999. Another unknown band to me. I think a lot of the unknown bands are from England and they did not make it off the island.
The first song “Dirge” was excellent. It starts small and it get grows gigantic in sound. The track list Dot Allison of One Dove as doing the vocals. I do not know what exactly are her vocals unless she is doing the wawawawa.
I also sort of liked “Soul Auctioneer”, which is the second track on the album. It features Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream. There is a hand clapping in the song, but it did not bother me like I thought it would.
“Aisha” is the third song on the album with a guest vocalist; this one features Iggy Pop. I like this song, especially the music.
The fourth guest vocalists is Jim Reid on “Broken Little Sister”. Unfortunately it is my least favorite song on the album.
Overall, I think this is a great album, although by the seventh song it starts to diminish in its appeal. It is like the last three songs were created to fill up the album. One the reissue double version there are songs which were B-sides and vinyl only, which are much better than the original version. 8.5/10.
