U2‘s All That You Can’t Leave Behind might be their last album that is worth calling great. How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb was an extension of this album and No Line on the Horizon was a bit of a disappointment because we were promised something more experimental. Their last two albums I have not even listened to yet. They need to reapply for greatest band in the world again.
I like every song on the album. I listened to it with skipping any songs. I have heard the album many times in the past. I wished they had done more of the atmospheric sound of the 80s. This album might be complex musically, but it sounds more rock/pop oriented.
We have all heard the biggest hit “Beautiful Day“. I think this is an amazing song. Lyrically, musically, and vocally it is a perfect song
To take you out of this place
Someone you could lend a hand
In return for grace
Sky falls, you feel like
It’s a beautiful day
Don’t let it get away”.
I suggest that you listen to the whole album. I find it hard to rate this album because it is not exactly the U2 I first heard as a young kid. But I am not the same person either. We have all grown older. Hopefully, we all mature since the 80s or whatever time we were teens. 9.5/10.
