Eminem‘s third album The Marshall Mathers LP is the one that I heard quite a few songs from before today. It is the album that made him known to the public. It was a commercial success around the world. I found Eminem interesting when I heard him speak. He was speaking his mind, which I liked. He did not seem to care what others thought.
My favourite songs are “Stan” and “The Real Slim Shady“, but to be honest I think almost all of the album is good.
He said to critics in the song “Criminal“, “half the shit I say, I just make it up to make you mad”. I think I can relate to that statement. I do it to make some people think, but I ado it mostly to make myself laugh.
The difference between black rappers and Eminem are the topics. He likes to say faggot a lot. He really hates the young singers of the day, such as Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, and Ricky Martin. I think the difference is that Eminem does it all with humour.
I recommend this album if you want to hear someone who is a bit angry at the hypocrisy around him. Em’s raps are great and Dr. Dre’s production elevates it to a higher level of art than most rappers dream of. 8.5/10.
