Lambchop? Okay, now these people are getting ridiculous with the band names. This does not sound like a band I would listen to at all. The name makes me think it is for children. Nixon is their fifth album. Leader singer Kurt Wagner looks like someone’s dad. I think there is something to be said about frontman appeal. I am not saying it is right, but it is a fact in most cases.
The songs that grabbed me were “You Masculine You“, “What Else Could It Be?”, and “The Book I Haven’t Read”.
Overall, this is not a bad album at all. If you like chamber pop and a bit of falsetto, then you might enjoy it. At times it seems like something from the past, way back in my childhood. Maybe I am thinking of AM radio music that my grandmother would have listened to. I think I would give it a better score if I had more time to listen to each song a few more times. 6.9/10.
