Super Furry Animals released their fifth studio album Rings Around the World in 2001. It was their first major label release. If you like a world were all genres are smashed into on pot like mash potatoes, then this album includes pop, prog, punk, jungle, electronica, techno and death metal.
I am not sure how I feel about this album. I spent several days listening to it in the background. Unfortunately, it never brought me to the foreground. The music is not bad, nor is the singing, but for some reasons it did not connect with me. Except I did recognise “Juxtapozed with U“.
I sort of liked “Sidewalk Serfer Girl”, “It’s Not the End of the World?”, and “Presidential Suite”. They were smoother songs.
Overall, I recommend that you give it a chance. It is better after a lot of listenings. Thanks a lot Super Furry Animals you put me behind. 6/10.
