Radiohead‘s Hail to the Thief is their sixth studio album and their fifth album on the list of 1001 Albums… That is quite an achievement. The only album that is not listed is Pablo Honey, which is their debut album. Thom Yorke‘s lyrics are in response to the war on terror and the resurgence of right-wing politics.
I think I finally realised why I have been a distant fan of Radiohead’s music. Many of their songs are not really sing-alongs. I would say they are more for getting high and vegetating. I think my favourite songs were “There There” and “A Punchup at a Wedding.” (No no no no no no no no.).
Overall, the whole album is great, but maybe not as listened friendly as their previous recordings. It wanders all over the world and never lands in any one place. I am not so sure that it deserves a spot on the list. 9/10.
