Cee-Lo Green second studio album Cee-Lo Green… Is the Soul Machine was released in 2004. There isn’t anything except the track listing in Wikipedia. I think 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die editors must have jumped the gun on this one. That might be the reason it was excluded in the later edition. The album reached number 2, but the singles were failures. It was not the album that would give Green his fame. He is also part of the duo known as Gnarls Barkley.
I was not moved by most of the songs on the album. I find his ego a bit too big for me to enjoy his music. I am not a fan of egotistical characters. I think my favourite song is “Die Trying”. Other songs that were okay were “All Day Love Affair” and “The Art of Noise” featuring Pharrell.
Overall, I think Green has the right voice for soul music, but I am not a fan of his lyrics and music on every song. I feel his presence overshadows his music. 4/10.
