#997 The Killers – Hot Fuss

The Killers released their debut album Hot Fuss in 2004. It was a smash hit. It was voted one of the best debut albums of all time. It was on the list of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die, but has since been removed. The Killers and The Strokes seem to have a bit of a battle, at least on the side of The Strokes. They are or were a bit jealous of The Killers being more famous. That easily explained: The band that plays more ear candy will always be played on the radio more.

Obviously, I like the hit song “Mr. Brightside“. It is perfect pop ear candy. I think my favourite song was “All These Things That I’ve Done“. I had a friend from Vajta, Hungary who was and still is a soldier. “I got soul, but I’m not a soldier”. Other songs that I like are “Smile Like You Mean It”, “Believe Me Natalie”, and “Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll”.

Overall, this is a great album. I feel like I would love it even more if I spent a few more days on it. I am just not sure that think it is better than The Strokes 2001 album Is This It. After all, lead singer Brandon Flowers even stated they restarted this album after hearing The Strokes. 9/10.

‘Cause I’m Mr. Brightside
