MGMT is an American band? I had no idea. They sound so British or Australian. I think I discovered them on one of their singing programs. Oracular Spectacular is their 2007 debut album. I never knew what the name meant until today. It was the was founding members Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser would sign their emails to each other. Management. I do the same thing when I make an emphatic statement.
My favourite songs are still “Electric Feel“, “Kids“, and “Time to Pretend“, especially the latter. It is the typical story of a rock start who lives fast and dies young.
Overall, I think the whole album is great, but the second half switches a bit into something else. Perhaps the second half is missing a hit radio song for those who need that in their life. I really liked “Future Reflections”, which closes it out. If you like neo-psychedelia, indie pop, and psychedelic pop, then this is your album. 9/10.
