#1019 Radiohead – In Rainbows

Radiohead‘s seventh studio album In Rainbows was recognised as one of the best albums of 2007 and of the decade by many music publications. The released the album as a pay-what-you-want, which they claimed made money for them. I believe most band do not make much money from album sales. They make it from concert and product sales.

My favourite songs are “Nude”, “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi”, “All I Need”, “Reckoner”, “House of Cards”, and the whole album.

I think one of the reasons I do not listen to Radiohead as often as I do some other bands is because of the sadness that comes over me. For example, this has been a shitty day for me and I am crying while listening to it. I hate my life. I feel so unappreciated, so unloved, so unseen, so unhappy, and many more feelings. I want to escape from this life I am in now. I am not wanted here. I cannot find a place to go yet. I was able to secretly escape from my mother’s first husband once and I will find a way to do it now. One day I will be able to run away without telling anyone that I am leaving. As for the album, this is experimental art rock. It is perfect. 10/10.

      1. I’ll stop commenting on everything now but I highly recommend Pyramids. It’s one of the best songs ever made, in my personal opinion. It’s 10 minutes long and is split into two halves and is revolutionary both lyrically and sonically. The first 4 minutes are good but the last 6 are masterful. The song is about the evolution of the African woman (goes from Cleopatra, queen of Egypt, to a stripper named Cleopatra who works at The Pyramid, the famous strip club in Vegas). Lots of very clever parallels in the story, obviously. And Frank’s production in it is unreal, too. He did it all.

      2. I appreciate all your comments. It is nice to chat with you again. I hope you are doing well. I will listen to the suggestions. I am loving Seigfried.

      3. ^Pitchfork called it the best album of the decade. Ranked Blonde at #1. Anyway, off to do homework now. Sorry for the randomly long series of comments. Cheers!

      4. Oh one last thing: Listen to the song Nights off Blonde. The first 1.5 minutes are very uneventful (I usually skip to 1:25 when I play the song) but after that it’s unreal. Also one of the best songs of all time, in my personal opinion. The production is just INCREDIBLE and the lyrics are all based off his real life (going from the projects to a promising college student to homeless and addicted to cocaine to international superstar).

  1. Have you listened to Frank Ocean? His album Blonde is my other fav of all time and I think you’d like it if you like Radiohead. Frank is more urban R&B type sound but he has a lot in common with Radiohead. Very avant-grade, very abstract, very anti-establishment, and they both incorporate a sense of ambience really well.

    1. I will check him out. His album Channel Orange is coming up in the list of 1001 Albums. I heard one song from him on TikTok. ahahahahaha.

      1. Pyramids is his opus on Channel Orange but I also recommend the songs Bad Religion (which you’ll love due to his vocals), Crack Rock, Pink Matter, and Thinkin Bout You.

      1. That’s how I feel about the song All I Need. My fav song of all time and reminds me of the love of my life (whom I lost 4 years ago). The end of Reckoner gets me super emotional too. So beautiful.
