Elbow‘s fourth studio album The Seldom Seen Kid is one that I sort of remember. There was so many bands during this time period, which played alternative and art rock music. I think most of them got lost in the mix. Their previous album Leaders of the Free World sounds more familiar to me.
The first song “Starlings” on the album is my favourite. It is a bit dreamy and sad. Other songs which I liked were “One Day Like This”, “Some Riot”, “Weather to Fly”, “The Loneliness of a Tower Crane Driver”, “Grounds for Divorce”, and “An Audience with the Pope”.
Overall, it is a really good album. I like singer Guy Garvey‘s vocals. The music is extremely well played, creative, and contemplative. I highly recommend it to those who like thoughtful music. 9.5/10.
