Kings of Leon‘s >ONLY_BY_THE_NIGHT> (i prefer the stylized version) was released in 2008. It was their fourth studio album and the one that exploded them into “overnight” sensations. This is another band that I thought was from Australia because I watched some Australian programmes and it was where I first heard of them.
I already know this album extremely well. My best friend Tamás and I listened to it a lot. I guess I should say former best friend. I no longer have a best friend. The only thing I have ever wanted in life is a best friend, but it is the only thing I cannot have. It makes me feel so sad, so alone, so hated, so unloved, and many other terrible things. Why is it the one thing we want in life is the one thing we cannot have?
My absolute favourite song is and always has been “Revelry“. It hits me so hard that i still get tears in my eyes when i hear it.

But all the while I was dreaming of revelry
Gonna run baby run like a stream down a mountainside
With the wind at my back I won’t ever even bat an eye
Just know it was you all along who had a hold of my heart
But the demon in me was the best of friends from the start
I don’t usually like live songs unless I am actually there, but they sound perfect.
Actually, this is a perfect album for me. I like every song on it. Of course, there are the overplayed hits, such as “Sex on Fire”, “Use Somebody”, and the songs that pack all the emotions like “Cold Desert” and “I Want You” so there is something for everyone.
Overall, I recommend you listen to the whole album all the way through. It is pure southern alternative rock. It will always have a special place in my heart. 10/10.
