#1046 Beach House – Teen Dream

Beach House is a band that I have heard of and I have listened to their music. I have heard their third album Teen Dream before today. I am not sure why I don’t listen to them more often. The duo Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally compose the music, but for the most part Legrand writes the lyrics. From an interview of Legrand, it is obvious that she thinks the lyrics are more important. She said, “There’s a lot of great sounds in music, but it’s not gonna necessarily make you feel something.” Has she ever listened to music? I feel a lot from music without lyrics.

My favourite songs are “Walk in the Park“, “Lover of Mine”, and “Better Times”.

Overall, the album is terrific. I think I realised why I don’t listen to it often. I love this type of music, but I find it hard to connect to the music in dream pop because I drift away, far away.. I really like Scally’s voice too. I think I will listen to them more often now. Honestly, there isn’t a bad song on the whole album. I do prefer the male vocals over the female vocals. 9/10.
