J is for Joyous

Day 10: “J is for “Joyous“. When was the last time you ever felt joyous?”

I feel that this one is too similar to excitement. I know that it is different, but I have trouble with words that mean happy things or exciting things or joyous things. Give me words of depression, sadness, death, loss, etc., (you know what I mean), then I could write all night.

Maybe I should think of the word joy instead of joyous. I think people can have joy in the middle of troublesome times. If I was a normal human, then I could look back over the past year during the great pandemic of 2020 and see the joy that was there. I have P.T.S.D. from childhood trauma so I have trouble with time and the whole thing of when something happened. It all feels recently to me.

Joy for me is travelling on a train through Europe. I love travelling on trains in Europe. Every stop can be a new adventure. Each person getting on the train comes with a new story. Nothing last for long. You meet someone share a tale or two, then you part ways. Next!

Joy is when I write or create something which people enjoy. That is rare these days, but it still happens from time to time.

Joy is riding my bicycle around the trail in Weld County. It is really beautiful and feels safer than riding on the streets of Longmont. I feel free when I ride.

What makes you feel joyous?

  1. You allowed me to read some of your poetry back in the 80´s and I was very impressed. I saw that you have a real talent. I hope that gave you some joy, at least for a day.
