K is for Kindness

Day 11: “K is for “Kindness“. Do you feel like people still have a sense of kindness these days?”

Wow! This one is difficult to see at times. The news likes to report everything that is terrible so it seems like people are horrible. I find more kindness in everyday life from strangers. As Blanche DuBois stated, “Whoever you are… I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.” Perhaps it is in my detached way from reality that I see strangers as kinder. But in reality, I know some of my friends are extremely kind, unfortunately I gravitate toward to the mean one.

I think people are inherently evil. I have those thoughts in my head, but I do not act on them, at least I try really hard. There are times that my thoughts overtake me. In general, I feel like I am a kind person. I try to help others without expecting back, but I am human and sometimes I feel others take advantage of my kindness, then I get angry.

This past year the U.S. has divided so much into two parties. Those who hate everyone, except a few minorities and those who hate the ones who hate everyone, except the few minorities. It really is a divided country. Abe Lincoln said it correctly, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” He was talking about slavery and freedom. Lincoln obviously got his inspiration from Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.”

If J.C. was a prophet, then we have something on the horizon to look forward to, but something that is not good at all. Perhaps, we should try to become united and be kinder to each other. I am not sure why I wrote this post at this time. It was where my mind wondered when I read the word kindness.
